I have always enjoyed having adventures, fun and trying new things and like encouraging other people to do the same. What better way to spend time with friends and family or explore a new area than with a treasure hunt? I have always been a sucker for doing one myself and, as a parent, I have organised several over the years for my children’s parties and various organisations. So the next logical step seemed to turn it into a business – Treasure Trails of the Unexpected!
It is a family business with the children and friends being used to trial out new trails, measure distances of routes for me on their bikes and, of course, our furry, family felines being used as models and the inspiration behind our themed trails! The majority of our trails are based in Ayrshire as this is home, but we are now expanding to other parts of Scotland and also into Wales and England as I like to travel and scout our new locations. Everywhere and everything becomes a potential clue to me!
Our trails are predominantly walking trails, but we are now diversifying to include cycle trails and car trails and we have worked in partnership with Sustrans representatives to promote activity in local communities. We advertise our trails through Visit Scotland and Visit Wales and, of course, through social media.
Although passionate about promoting outdoor activity and healthy lifestyle, we also recognise that not everyone can access our trails through cycling or walking but we have introduced a car trail so more of you can enjoy the thrill of the hunt! This is also a popular choice for bespoke trails for groups!
We all need to keep some excitement in our lives! Get sleuthing and unleash your inner detective!
