I have always enjoyed having adventures, fun and trying new things and like encouraging other people to do the same. What better way to spend time with friends and family or explore a new area than with a treasure hunt? I have always been a sucker for doing one myself and, as a parent, I have organised several over the years for my children’s parties and various organisations. So the next logical step seemed to turn it into a business – Treasure Trails of the Unexpected!
It is a family business with the children being used to trial out new trails, measure distances of routes for me on their bikes and, of course, our furry, family felines being used as models and the inspiration behind our themed trails! The majority of our trails are based in Ayrshire as this is home, but we are now expanding to other parts of Scotland and also into North Wales as I spend a lot of time there.
Our trails are predominantly walking trails, but we are now diversifying to include Cycle trails and are working in partnership with Sustrans representatives to promote activity in local communities. We advertise our trails through Visit Scotland and Visit Wales and, of course, through social media.
Although passionate about promoting outdoor activity and healthy lifestyle, we also recognise that not everyone can access our trails through cycling or walking. So we are in the process of introducing some car trails so more of you can enjoy the thrill of the hunt!
We all need to keep some excitement in our lives!
