A Predator in Penrith – a Poirot Puzzle!

Debra May Dye has been found Murdered in Penrith!  Can you help to solve the crime?

This is just one more in a series of mysterious deaths in the town.  There is a predator in Penrith!!  Can you help DCI Laura Norder to solve the crime?

Ms Dye was a solicitor who had left work yesterday afternoon to meet a client and did not return.  Her secretary says that she received a phone call shortly before her departure.  The only clue to whom she met, where the meeting took place and when is a cryptic entry in her diary about a white building and a strange word!  You need to help work out these crucial details!

Can you also work out the name and profession of the murderer as well as what the murder weapon was?  You will also need to work out the grid reference of the meeting place on the map.  And…a strange message was chalked on the ground beside the body in Latin.  Can you translate it?

Simply follow the clues around the town from the start at the Penrith and Eden Museum, 42 Middlegate, Penrith CA11 7PT.  The nearest car park is The Bluebell Lane Car Park which can be accessed from Brunswick Road. The trail actually finishes here!  Payment is required!

The trail is on hard surfaces: pavements, roads, and a few cobbled areas.  There are no steps.  The trail should be entirely accessible for all.  Public toilets are available in Little Dockray and there are plenty of cafes/pubs/restaurants in the town to have a rest and sustenance at many points on the trail!!

All the answers to each clue will give you an INCORRECT piece of information!  Simply cross it from the Answer sheet.  In a process of elimination, you will be left with the correct answers!  You will then be able to work out all of the answers above and then use the map to work out where the meeting took place!

It was a great day, I thoroughly enjoyed it, for more than the obvious reasons. ( the winner)  You are all a great bunch of people and ultimately the cause that money was being raised for is, most likely, dear to everyone’s hearts. Ultimately it is fundraising like this that helps push forward the treatments which in turn helps the people it will benefit the most.”    Collette Burns
