I’m always pleased to find well-publicised scientific proof that dance is one (if not the best) form of all-round exercise and this short video does not disappoint! If you have been watching this year’s BBC series on How to Stay Young, you will know that it is not just about watching what you eat and staying slim, but more to do with the whole package (your body being the package!). Yes, of course, diet and weight management are important, but so are blood pressure, BMI (body mass index), muscle mass, cholesterol, lung function and brain agility (and the list goes on).

As the video shows, exercise that depends largely on repetition, does not require as much nerve stimulation and cognitive interaction as with dance. With dance, muscle mass is increased, flexibility is improved, stamina enhanced and memory boosted.

It’s a no-brainer really – and it is such FUN!
