The Prestwick Purse Snatcher – a Poirot Puzzle

Victim found in St Nicholas’ Old Kirk!  Who mugged her and left her for dead?

A local chef, Sal Minella with a notorious reputation, was attacked while walking home and dragged into the old graveyard.  Her bag with the staff’s weekly wages was stolen and she was severely beaten.  Nearby residents only managed to offer a hazy description of the villain before he escaped.

Can you help the local bumbling ‘Bobby’ to solve the crime?  We need to know the name, age and home town of the assailant; his weapon of choice and the type of getaway vehicle used and, finally, can you work out the name of the bumbling detective and the firm of solicitors that will be defending the villain?

Directions :  The trail starts and finishes at the free public car park near Kidz Play, Links Rd, Prestwick KA9 1QG. No map is required.  Simply follow the clues and directions around the  trail.  All the answers to each clue will give you an INCORRECT piece of information!  Simply cross it from the list on the inside back page.  In a process of elimination, you will be left with the correct answers!

Accessibility:  Part of the trail involves an uneven path, which is navigable by buggy but not wheelchair.   A 0.5-mile detour can avoid this.   Access to an old church yard involves a steep, grassy slope.   If your numbers do not allow your group to ‘divide and conquer’, then the answers to these clues can be accessed by text.

Solved the Puzzle?  If you order a printed booklet, then the solution will be sent to you in a sealed envelope.  If you choose to opt for the downloadable format, then you will get the options to download the solution page either at the time of purchase (but DON’T peek!) or you can wait until after you have finished!

Standard Booklet  as pdf download   £9.99

Suitable for  a group of 2-4 to share.  Please note, that although it is possible to read the clues on a mobile device, it will be tricky because of having to scroll backwards and forwards to access the list of suspects etc for elimination purposes.  The trail is NOT INTERACTIVE, therefore you would still need a pen and paper to make notes.  We recommend printing at home for the best experience!

It was a great day, I thoroughly enjoyed it, for more than the obvious reasons. ( the winner)  You are all a great bunch of people and ultimately the cause that money was being raised for is, most likely, dear to everyone’s hearts. Ultimately it is fundraising like this that helps push forward the treatments which in turn helps the people it will benefit the most.”    Collette Burns
